“Since love grows within you, so beauty grows. For love is the beauty of the soul.” Saint Augustine
I love eye shadow palettes. In fact, it’s rare for me to come across a palette that I don’t want to purchase. Of course I can’t have them all, so when I do buy one it’s because it has won me over.
When I first was introduced to the new Stila Palette collection I was at my friend Erika’s Bachelorette get together. The day started at the spa and then we all got ready together. Erika asked for help with her shadow and handed me this amazing palette. It was the soul palette. I loved the mix of matte and shimmer shadows and gorgeous complimentary shades. This palette is perfect for the every day woman and would be flattering on all skin types. The next day I went to my local Ulta and found that along with Soul, the collection also included 3 more palettes – Mind, Body, and Spirit. At $40 a palette, I limited myself to purchasing 2. Although Soul and Spirit have beautiful colors, they were a bit more everyday, so I went with Mind and Body which had a few out of the box colors that I could play and get creative with.
All of 4 palettes come with a lookbook created by Stila’s global executive director of creative artistry. They also all come in beautiful gold or rose gold palettes that you can’t help but want to take out and use in public.
Mind is my new go to palette. The shadows are matte, which I love. After years of shimmer filled shadows, matte is having a come back and I couldn’t be happier. Every one of these shadows packs a pigment punch, and goes on velvety smooth. I have my favorites, although they tend to change daily. One that I can’t stop loving, especially for fall, is Perception. It is this beautiful burnt orange color that is flattering on all skin tones.
Body is the most fun of the 4 palettes. It’s a mix of shimmer and matte shadows, with neutral shades as well as pops of purples, greens, and blues. All the shadows in this palette are named after stones and when my creative juices are flowing I am drawn to emerald, garnet, and sapphire.
For the looks to showcase these palettes I was inspired to do a almost watercolor paint effect on Morgan, and then a classic smokey eye on Eliana. The possibilities with these palettes are endless and I have definitely continued to create looks with them since first using them on this shoot. I can’t wait to feature more palettes as they continue to come out for the holidays, but in the mean time do yourself and favor and head out to purchase Mind for the perfect addition to your fall wardrobe – fall colors for your eyes!
Thanks to my beautiful models and as always thanks for reading!
Until Next Week,
