Music has the ability to transport the listener into their freest and most euphoric states, for this reason I don’t confine my interests to a particular genre. I allow myself to experience all that is out there. I grew up with my dad’s subwoofers blasting European Techno so loud that my heart vibrated in the car, while my mom played piano and sung love songs when we were home. I am the person that is expected to be the car DJ, and in all honesty, if my friends don’t offer me the AUX cord I will most likely steal it from them anyways.
Being raised in Portland, I often see myself and others getting wrapped up in trying to be the coolest person in the room. This isn’t the place for that – let’s just enjoy good music. Music is meant to make you feel something and I will be creating playlists that do just that. Everything that I post has served this purpose for me and I am confident it will do the same for you. You will learn everything you need to know about me by listening to the following tracks.
Take You There (Ft. Kiesza) [Missy Elliott Remix] – Skrillex & Diplo
Two words – Missy. Elliott. I can’t possibly be the only suburban girl out there who lived vicarious through her in high school.
That’s My Jam – Shelco Garcia & Teen Wolf
We all have those morning when not even the entire coffee pot can wake us up. Press play on this one here and I guarantee you will be shimming and shaking it all the way into the office. And if that doesn’t work, at least it will get you day dreaming about your upcoming weekend festivities.
Benefit Concert – Flatbush Zombies
This song is not for the faint of heart. It takes a certain type of person to withstand the constant bass paired with “slightly” vulgar lyrics. But if you so happen to be this type of person then you will get just as hyped as I do when you hear Meechy Darko hit the pre-hook.
Madonna – Drake
When Drake dropped “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” unannounced on February 13th, it’s safe to say marbles were lost. Whether or not this is his “Views From the 6” project under a different name or if there is something else cooking in the oven, this particular track will tide me over until then.
Bliss – Muse
Yes, I am well aware that this song came out 5 years ago. However, I have yet to get sick of it. I may be slightly biased due to my undying love for Mathew Bellamy. Whether or not British rock bands are your guilty pleasure, I am sure you will enjoy this track.
Often – The Weeknd (Kygo Remix)
Who hasn’t heard of The Weeknd, right? But you haven’t heard him in anything like this remix. Something about a dreamy voice paired with an even dreamier bass drop…
Lullabies – Yuna
If the previous few tracks were a bit too much for your tastes, press play on this song. You won’t be disappointed. Her voice is nothing short of angelic. Vibe to this while you are decompressing in a bubble bath, it will not only clear your mind but will also make your heart smile.
You – Keaton Henson
Heading even further down the hole of crying myself to sleep, this song is absolute gold. You all know exactly what I am talking about… sometimes you just need a good cry and this song will evoke feelings out of you that you didn’t even know you had.
These are my current obsessions. You have now heard at least one song that you didn’t know about before I came into your life! I’ll even let you take the credit when you play them for your friends.
