For 2016, I’m all about matte lips with glossy eyes. I have also been falling head over heels with the gold shadows coming out recently and the plum, purple lipstick and lip gloss shades.
First, my top 5 gold shadows in 2016.
I love the deep gold color in Sephora brands N° 3 Girls Night Out – Dark Gold Shimmer, the super gorgeous foil gold color in Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow in Metallic Gilded Gold, the subtle shimmer in Kat Von D’s Metal Crush Eye Shadow in Thrasher Metallic Gold, the versatility in Nars Dual Intensity Eye Shadow in Pasiphae (a shade that can be used wet or dry and is a range of colors depending how you apply it), and lastly the super shimmer shadow that is L’oreal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Eternal Sunshine. As much as I love glossy eyes, it’s not always realistic for every day wear. I say definitely try it though. The best way to test it out is by putting a clear unscented gloss on a shadow free eye.
Next, the perfect purple pout.
My new favorite is Nars Steven Klein Collaboration Killer Shine Lip Gloss in Provoke. The nice part about gloss is it can be worn sheer or bold. Other favorites of mine: Bite Beauty High Pigment Matte Pencil in Lavendar Violet, Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Como Bright Violet, Revlon Super Lustrous Pearl Lipstick and Violet Frenzy, and last but not least NYX Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Aria. I love the look of matte lips with a shimmery eye. If you want to make a glossy lip stick super matte it’s easy, just take a translucent powder on a small powder brush and press in into the lip color. Or if you want to deepen the color use a colored shadow.

In the New Year take some risks, be bold, and enjoy some new makeup. After all, life’s too short to leave the house without it!
