Kylie’s Unwind Mix

Written by ouiidistrict

”Deep breath in, deep breath out. I don’t know about you but the month of May has been kicking my booty. I enjoy being busy as much as the next work-a-holic but there comes a point in my week when I just need to chill. My personal remedy is a cup of jasmine tea, a bubble bath and a great playlist. Kylie Sallee is our resident beauty editor and I got a chance to chat with her about what she listens to when unwinding after a crazy day.

“When it comes to music I feel like I am a little all over the place. When I get home from work after a long day, there is nothing quite like winding down to a good playlist. These 8 songs are on the top of my end of day, after work jams.”

Hozier – Work Song

“Even after months of listening to it, I still can’t get enough of Hozier – Work Song, I can’t explain it, it just speaks to me.”

X Ambassadors – Renegades

“Is just up beat enough to keep me productive once I get home, it a dance around your apartment alone sort of song.”

Billy Joel – New York State Of Mind

“After spending 6 years living in NY, billy Joel’s New York State of mind fills the hole left in my heart from leaving.”

Little Big Down – Girl Crush

“Little big town has received a lot of flack for their new song girl crush, but it is one I love to blast and sing a long to like I know what I am doing.”

Laurel – Blue Bloods

“This is an artist I am hoping blows up soon.”

Maggie Eckford – Ghost

“Just because it adds a little spice to this playlist.”

Mumford and Sons – Believe

“This is their newest release and it does not disappoint.”

“MS MR has come out with a lot of new stuff, but I always go back to BTSK, unfortunately I don’t think this song got as much praise as it should have – but that’s just me!”

There are few things in life that are more exhilarating than finding new music. That moment when your ears are hearing something for the very first time… There are songs and even entire albums that I wish I could listen to for the first time again – if only.

Kylie has introduced me to some artists that I have never even heard of before! That is the beauty of platforms such as this blog. I can have a conversation with a talented makeup artist and she shows me some cool new songs she’s been digging and I am able to post it up on the internet for all of you to see! I can only hope that you all find this as exciting as I do.

Remember to make time for yourself every now and then, Sofiya
