Andy Francisco is a man of many talents. He not only models for some of the biggest industry names but he is also often found behind the camera. His love for videography began in the youthful years he spent at the skate park filming his buddies. Since then, Andy has progressed to shooting concert and event videos. Doing what he does, Andy has worked with many of the young creatives in the Portland area, so it only seemed natural that I ask him to share some of his favorite Portland music artists.
D. Worthy – Dior Boomin’ (prod. Metro Boomin’)
X – Oh No (prod. Deadbrainz)
Deadbrainz – Understand
Kyle McMillan – Wrath (prod. Deadbrainz)
Aviel – Mind Control (prod. Deadbrainz)
Andy: “While making school sketches and music videos in high school, I met multi-talented artist and rapper X, his 14-year-old brother and producer Deadbrainz, and guitarist Carols Cabrera through our love for hip-hop and we grouped up to form The Locals. Deadbrainz’s chillwave-inspired tracks and X’s smooth yet complex storytelling raps are great to vibe to when editing videos, but some of their heavier trap stuff is hard enough to work out to. Be on the lookout for more music and art from these two this summer.”
“While at PSU, I met up with a few other Portland rappers and shot shows and music videos with them. Now I work with the northwest clothing label The Incorporated and a rising rapper from Vancouver, D. Worthy. D. Worthy’s new song produced by frequent Young Thug and Travi$ Scott collaborator Metro Boomin, is great for driving around with the squad and getting hyped before a show. Expect big things from D. and his team, the Blow Up Kids.”
Music is my heart and soul so it is always a blessing to meet an individual who is just as passionate about it as I am. As most of you know, hip hop and rap are at the root of my background in music and so this playlist hits home for me. I will be sure to keep an eye out on these dudes and Andy to see what else they’ve got cooking.
See you back here next week, Sofiya
